How do people see your Corvette?

Last night I came across an interesting discussion - How do other people see you and your Corvette?

I my experience people in general am very positive and friendly, but I have heard about some Corvette owners that have been exposed to vandalism and harassment. It is a shame if you can’t even take the Vette out for dinner without fearing that somebody would key it or worse. What do you think?

Way back in 1977 I owned a 1975 Vette. One night I went to a night club that was inside a shopping mall. I parked the car way out under the parking lot light. When I came out two guys were talking, saying "I can't believe this". I asked what's going on. One guy said, see that Vette out there? Someone in an old pick up backed into the left front, pulled up then backed into the right front, then peeled off! Needless to say, I had no headlights that night. He either didn't like Corvettes or he didn't like the way I was dancing in the club! Whatever.

My husband & I own automotive business and when I stop by I get some mixed reactions about oh I see you got your wife a Vette. Then he responds with because it was something she wanted her entire life. He stands up for me.

I see jealousy but most people are thumbs up! I park miles away and cringe when I see a new little rock chip!

I like to stay somewhat under the radar. I alway s liked Corvettes because you see them. It isn't like cruising around in a Lambo or Ferrari where you are the center of attention, and I like that. I'd liek to think that most people just appreciate the look of it and how clean I keep mine, but I always fear that someone will for some reason take offense to it and damage it. It does stink that I don't really park my car, I don't take it to the movies, or to dinner, mainly just to visit relatives, to car shows, and for drives every day that I can. I just love my car so much I do not want to put it in harms way. All that said though, I wouldn't trade my car for anything. (other than a new ZR1 haha)

There are as many views as there are people in this world. I just hope they all cherish the old fashion golden rule and don't think too much. Wether it's a Corvette or any well kept item a small few will have to try to ruin it for us all. Thank goodness the majority still respects other people's possessions and hard work!

Most people tell me it's a pretty car and are very nice about it. Some women accuse me of having a mid-life crisis or that I bought it to impress women. Truthfully I don't think women are that impressed. In all honesty, I bought a Vette to impress no one but myself. My mom says I don't date much because I think more of my car than I do women. LOL! There may be some truth in that! Some people say that it would be too expensive to drive or that it would be uncomfortable to drive. Neither is true. I loved my 1st one so much that I bought two more.

Being a youthful 72 year old ( some people have said I look 71) I get some strange looks from younger people when I pull up in My Corvette. I really Mess with them when I am driving my 2011 WRX. I have been driving performance cars since I was 16. The thrill never goes away.

Yeah, generally it's been good for me as well. I don't see many responses when I'm driving the beast, because I'm watching the road and my guages, but the wife when she's with me says I get a lot of thumbs up. However, about 6 years ago when I had the car painted for about $9500 I took it to work and out to lunch and parked a ways away but next to a curb as close as I could get to it to be as far as possible from any car that would park next to me. To my surprise some A$$ managed to smack the heck out of my door with theirs--had to be intentional.

Years ago some "person" broke of a side-mirror of my 1970 Amazon.. Would have been worth it the catch the guy doing it. I hate it when people cant just let others stuff be.

Similar thing happened to my wife driving the van. Someone broke off the drivers side mirror, big plastic thing, then put it back barely hanging there. So my wife drove off and made a turn and it fell down hanging by its wires. Scared the heck out of her!

This is so cool to be back in tombstone again! Got the wife's car back together again after putting in the oil cooler for. All tol it cost about 550 for parts, but she was able to keep up with me in her C3 at no hotter than 230 deg. I don't care what anyone says, a good oil cooler WILL reduce coolant temp by over 30 deg.
